Happy Holidays! Happy December!
I’m happy that I’ve gotten all my Christmas shopping done! LOL.
I don’t know about you, but I can’t believe that we’re in the homestretch of 2016. The last few weeks of the year are upon us. Without a doubt, some amazing and wondrous things have happened in your life. And, maybe you’ve experienced some not so amazing things. Maybe some struggles, setbacks, and disappointments.
There are a lot of people who are ready to turn their back on 2016 and say “Sayonara “ (That’s goodbye in Japanese). ☺
But I’m here to say “Hold Up! Wait A Moment!”
Put the brakes on…
Here’s the deal. There is a boatload of untapped wisdom to be unearthed from the last year, if you know where to find it.
Unsung accomplishments. Hard-won lessons you’d be smart not to repeat. Let’s not forget the heavy emotional baggage that might be hanging around.
Here are three questions that I have borrowed from business guru Marie Forelo to do my “Year In Review”. This process takes about 10 to 15 minutes of reflection and is super powerful. This prepped me for me for the all-day virtual business planning session I did with my uber successful and fantastic business mastermind buddies.
Here are the three questions:
- One thing you did this year that you’re proud of.
- One mistake you made and the lesson you’ve learned.
- One story you’re willing to let go of before 2017.
Look back over your calendar from the past year— see what has really worked for you—something that knocked your socks off! Write it down. Acknowledge it.
Next, ask yourself what misstep you’ve made and what you learned from it.
Lastly, we sometimes carry stories or baggage that we continue to sing—that are no longer serving us. What story are you willing to put to bed?
I’ve love to hear your reflections on those questions in the comments below.
Cheers To The New Year!
Mimi
